Insulation....
Wow....finally there is some progress being made on the new building expansion. I chose to have the walls sprayed with this expanding foam to try and make sure everything is sealed up tight. It was certainly more expensive, but it really is amazing. Even with out a ceiling yet, you can tell a difference between the frigid outside temperatures and the relatively comfortable indoors. I wish I had my house done with this stuff....
Willy's Engine Install...
With the front suspension almost completely buttoned up, it's time to move onto the engine install. The customer had a relatively low mileage 350 crate engine with a 700R4 auto that he wanted to use. The first step was to get the transmission mount built and in place to position the engine. With the rear bolted in, we then can level the engine and start building motor mounts.
As you probably notice, there is plenty of room in the engine bay. That is certainly a relief from the usual cramped engine compartments that we usually have to deal with.

2-3/4 axis machining....
Recently, I had a local company approach me about machining a couple of "cast" housings for one of their trade show displays. Apparently, the actual legit production castings were being delayed so they were forced to start from solid. It's been a relatively fun project and I have definitely learned a thing or two about the Fadal and my manual lathe...
Once done, I have to polish out the machining marks and then sand blast it to give the illusion of a cast piece.

After doing a relatively labor intensive machining project like this
one, I think that we need to invest in a CNC lathe and a 4th axis for
the mill...
