Finally done...

The new building is finally done...well at least the exterior.  There are big plans to make it the new workshop, but we'll just have to wait until spring.

You might be thinking to yourself that it seemed to take an excessively long time to finish...well I would have to agree with you on that.  You see, initially there were some issues with the weather.  It rained...for about a month straight.  Working in the mud absolutely sucks.  Then, once we did get enough of a dry spell to get the building up, we ran into another issue with the siding.  

I have only every used siding produced from Alside.  They make a fantastic product and I have never had any issues with it.  I have it on my house and other buildings so naturally I wanted it on the new shop.  But, after getting about half of it up, we stood back and noticed that the siding was two different colors. 

This was completely unacceptable...especially for the price paid for the product.  However, Aslide stood behind there product and replaced the entire lot of siding, but because of the holidays and personal vacations, it took about a month to sort everything out.  The problem was explained as an incorrect setup during the embossing process causing the slight difference in sheen.  After all was said and done, I would not hesitate to go back to them for my future siding needs.  It's nice to know that there are some companies that still value customer satisfaction.

Well...I'm back...

...and now officially a father!  Madelyn was born on Januray 20th and in perfect health.  Thankfully everyone is doing very well.  An entire new chapter has opened in her mother's and my future and we both couldn't be happier.

Going to be out of the shop for a bit....

Some fairly important events have recently required my full attention , so I am going to be out of the shop for a while.  Those looking to purchase adapters,  they are in stock, but it will be a week or so before I can fulfill your orders.  Sorry for the inconvenience, and if you need to get a hold of me, email is the best.  Thanks for the understanding.

Holiday break...

Things definitely slowed down over the holiday break.  I had big plans on getting a whole bunch of projects done and new ones started. 

Well...that didn't happen.  I've been sick, lying on the couch for the last week doing absolutely nothing.  In fact, I'm still not back to normal but I can't take it anymore.

I did manage to get out Monday and go to an auction.  I almost came home with this...

...but my senses prevailed and I bought a Massey Ferguson 202 front end loader instead.  Oh well, one of these days I will end up with a vehicle with tracks...

Pre-1948 216 and 235 T5 Adapter...

I've had several inquires about making an adapter for a pre-1948 Chevy truck bellhousing.  Mainly found on 216's from 1937 all the way up to 1947, this bellhousing has what I like to call the medium size bolt pattern.  Bigger than the '49-'54 car pattern but smaller than the later 235 bellhousings, the bottom two mounting holes measure 7.25" across.  On the earlier trucks, the pedals are mounted directly to the bellhousing making the swap to a later bell just that much more difficult.

 You can see in the picture below the three bolt boss that sticks out on the driver's side for the pedal mounts.  Every bellhousing pre-1947 that I have seen has had this mount.  However some where not drilled and tapped which I believe are post war since the AD trucks had the pedals mounted to the frame.

The pocket that is machined on the right side is for an adjustable clutch pivot ball that is in a customer's '37 Chevy truck.  We believe the bellhousing is original to the truck, but someone has been in there before.  regardless, it was no big deal to machine it in.
